The flossing fun all started when Dr. Jason Champagne, CEO at Champagne Dental Partners, was challenged on Facebook to a “floss off” by Dr. Todd Sala of Sala Family Dentistry. It’s not the type of flossing you might be thinking of. No, it had nothing to do with teeth. It had to do with shaking your hips vigorously to a beat, any musical beat, while crossing your arms from side-to-side. Easy right? Well as our doctors found out, it’s a lot easier for children than it is for adults. It’s called the Floss Dance. And our doctors had a blast with the docs at Sala in what we called the Floss Dance Challenge.
The majority of doctors from both dentistries strutted their best flossing moves, some with their kids, others to pop and hip hop songs, some while biking in the desert, some even while wearing a backpack as a tribute to “Backpack Kid,” who invented the dance.
We’ve wrapped up the fun our doctors had in this video. Enjoy!
Who won the challenge? The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows! Since all the flossing was in good fun, the two dentistries decided to donate a combined $1,000 to a good cause, one that is especially near and dear to Dr. Jason, to support the club’s activities offered to children in our community.
To add to the fun, boys and girls from the ninth street location “flossed” with Dr. Jason and Dr. Todd to spread the word about how fun flossing can be. View the Channel 2 news coverage of the check presentation below!
Thank you to everyone who followed the fun on Facebook throughout the challenge and “liked” and shared our posts on Facebook. We reached our goal to celebrate healthy smiles in our community with Sala Family Dentistry and to make people smile more! We’ve now challenged Dr. Scott Boyden!
