What Is a Comprehensive Dental Exam?
First-time patients will meet with a dentist for their preliminary comprehensive dental exam. A comprehensive exam is slightly different from a routine exam, as our doctor will spend time checking not just the teeth and gums but also the musculature of the jaw, joints and tissues around the mouth. A comprehensive exam provides a baseline for all future appointments, and it is here where our doctor will identify either you or your child’s primary treatment course. The process involves a short, preclinical exam where our pediatric dentists will ask questions to get to know your dental history, followed by a full examination that should last around 15 minutes.
